TorFX is a currency broker and international bank-transfer provider with a strong emphasis on personal service. Customers can agree an exchange rate with an account manager or arrange eligible transfers online, making it particularly relevant for property, relocation and other higher-value payments.

Is TorFX a good choice?
Worth considering when a large or important transfer benefits from a named person, a quoted rate and help with timing. For a small routine payment, a fully self-serve provider may be quicker to compare.
Best for
- Property purchases, relocation and other higher-value bank transfers
- Customers who prefer a dedicated account manager
- Regular overseas payments or transfers where rate alerts are useful
TorFX pricing at a glance
TorFX says it charges no separate transfer fee. It earns money from the difference between the market rate available to it and the exchange rate agreed with the customer.
This is a USD-to-EUR currency-conversion example. Your exact price may differ by country and by how you pay and receive the money.
About TorFX
TorFX has operated since 2004. The company says its group has served more than 500,000 personal and business customers and handles more than GBP 10 billion in foreign exchange and international payments each year.
The UK business, Tor Currency Exchange Ltd, is an FCA-authorised electronic money institution. TorFX says it supports more than 40 currencies and payments to more than 120 countries, with offices across the UK, Europe, Australia, the United States and South Africa.
How TorFX pricing works
The rate is specific to each quote and is fixed when the transfer is confirmed. An online estimate is only a starting point; a personal TorFX quote shows the rate offered for your currencies and amount.
The recipient's bank or another bank involved in the payment may still deduct charges, especially for an international bank transfer through the SWIFT network. Those third-party costs are not TorFX transfer fees and may reduce the final amount received.
What else you get
Dedicated account manager
A named contact can discuss requirements, confirm the rate and provide updates throughout an important transfer.
Online and phone service
Customers can arrange transfers by phone, while eligible transfers below GBP 25,000 can also be managed through TorFX Online.
Tools for planned payments
The service supports rate alerts, online transfer history and regular international payments.
Strengths and trade-offs
Reasons to choose TorFX
- Human help can be valuable for large, unfamiliar or time-sensitive transfers
- No separate TorFX transfer fee
- Supports personal and business payments across a broad group of currencies
Reasons to compare alternatives
- The cost is embedded in the quoted exchange rate, so the recipient amount is the figure to compare
- A quote or account conversation adds a step compared with an instant self-serve calculator
- It is not designed around cash pickup, card receipt or mobile-wallet transfers
Support and account checks
Each customer is assigned an account manager, and TorFX also publishes phone and email contact details.
Onboarding can require identity and address evidence, including a passport, identity card, driving licence, utility bill or similar document.
TorFX may request source-of-funds evidence such as bank or investment statements, sale documents or probate certificates, particularly for larger transactions.
When to look elsewhere
Choose Wise or TransferGo for a small, fully self-serve bank transfer. Compare OFX or another currency broker for a second large-transfer quote, and use Ria or Western Union when the recipient needs cash.
Large investment-related exchange?
For a large currency conversion that is part of genuine investing or trading in the account, compare Interactive Brokers first: its pricing can be difficult to beat. IBKR is a brokerage, not a stand-alone transfer service; use a transfer specialist for cash pickup or a direct payment to someone else.
What to know before you use TorFX
TorFX sends money to a recipient's bank account. It is different from exchanging money already held in an account or using a travel card.
The exact rate depends on the amount, currencies and moment the transfer is booked.
Account-manager guidance is not independent financial advice and does not remove currency-market risk.
