How our comparisons work
We rank estimates by the amount the recipient would receive. The calculation is useful for screening options, but it is not a binding quote and does not yet model every eligibility rule or third-party fee.

What is live and what is modelled
Wise API estimate
We use the payment option that gives an account holder the highest recipient amount, including account-funded options the anonymous API may mark unavailable to an unauthenticated caller. This choice is based on manual comparisons against logged-in, free-account quotes. Availability can still vary by account, recipient details, and payment method.
Published-fee models
Other providers are calculated from fee schedules stored in our database. These rows are labelled modelled and do not update automatically when a provider changes its terms.
If a Wise quote is available, its rate becomes the common reference rate. Otherwise we use a cached third-party or ECB-derived reference rate. Reference rates may be delayed and are not executable market prices.
The calculation
Amount received = max(send amount − fee, 0) × mid-market rate × (1 − rate markup)
All-in cost % = 1 − amount received ÷ (send amount × mid-market rate)
Results are sorted by estimated recipient amount, not by the advertised fee. The leaderboard shows every active plan, including paid Revolut options. Monthly plan prices are displayed separately and are not deducted from the transfer estimate, so existing plan holders can compare the value available to them.
Interactive Brokers is handled separately: its Tier I percentage commission is compared with a USD 2 equivalent minimum, converted into the send currency. It appears only for supported direct routes we can verify. Small orders are identified as odd lots; live spread, slippage and withdrawal costs remain outside the estimate.
Weekend handling
Wise remains available in comparisons on weekends. We do not apply weekend-specific pricing to Wise, Revolut, or any other provider, because a weekend search does not imply a weekend exchange. A warning recommends waiting until the next weekday if possible and checking the provider's final quote before exchanging.
Important limitations
- The model does not yet ask for sender country, personal or business status, funding method, payout method, or delivery speed.
- Some displayed products are wallets, business accounts, brokers, card products, or remittance services and may not be interchangeable or available on a route.
- Recipient-bank, intermediary-bank, SWIFT, card-funding, tax, and subscription costs may be absent unless they are part of the stored rule.
- Absolute fee and allowance denominations must be stored explicitly to avoid cross-currency unit errors. IBKR is handled explicitly; other provider-rule changes require review before they are applied.
- Monthly allowances assume no earlier usage. Always check remaining allowance and regional plan terms.
Sources and corrections
We prefer provider pricing pages and official documentation. Current live-quote and weekend logic follows the official Wise unauthenticated-quote guide and Revolut exchange-fee guidance. IBKR-specific handling follows its spot-currency commission schedule and published order-size limits. If a displayed price looks wrong, email [email protected] with the pair, amount, country, payment method, and a provider screenshot.
Commercial independence
Rankings are calculated from recipient amount and are not sold. We may earn a commission or referral benefit if you open an account through a provider link, at no extra cost to you. A commercial relationship does not improve a provider's rank.
