Aspora is a focused service for Indians living abroad. Revolut is a much broader financial app with cards, local payments, currency exchange and several subscription plans. Both can be useful for sending money to India, but only one is primarily built around that job.
If you already use Revolut, the question is whether its live India transfer beats Aspora without buying a plan only for the payment. If you do not use Revolut's wider account, Aspora gives you a cleaner transfer-only comparison.

| Best fit | Regular sender whose main destination is India | Existing Revolut user who values the wider account |
Compare the amount delivered
Aspora promotes a live Google rate, while its UK terms (opens in a new tab) say the transaction rate includes a small retained margin. Revolut shows its exchange rate and transfer fee in the app before confirmation. Its India transfer page (opens in a new tab) explains that plan allowances and transfer charges can apply.
Enter the same amount in each app and note the final rupees. Do not compare Aspora's rate with Revolut's rate without also including separate fees. A difference of 0.2% is £2 on £1,000 and £20 on £10,000, so small rate gaps can outweigh a modest fixed charge.
When a Revolut plan matters
Revolut sells paid plans with benefits beyond currency exchange. The subscription should not be deducted from a transfer quote or described as free. If you already pay for a plan because you use its insurance, subscriptions, lounge or card benefits, compare the added cost of this transfer under that plan.
If the India payment is the only reason to upgrade, include the full plan cost over the period you must keep it. Our Revolut plan break-even calculator helps separate exchange savings from the wider benefits.
Where Aspora is stronger
Aspora is designed around the financial relationship between people abroad and India. Its narrower scope can make recipient setup and India-specific support easier to follow. Planned NRI products may also give regular senders reasons to keep the account beyond a single payment.
Aspora is easier to compare as a transfer service because there is no need to value a bundle of unrelated plan benefits. The quote still needs to be checked live, and any reward should be kept separate from normal repeat pricing.
Where Revolut is stronger
Revolut is more useful as an everyday international account. A user may already hold GBP, EUR or USD there, spend abroad with the card and send to several countries. One app can therefore cover more jobs.
Its availability and pricing are market-specific. Use the plan and legal terms for the country where your account is registered, not a US or UK plan table found through a search if you live elsewhere.
Frequently asked questions
Is Aspora cheaper than Revolut for India
Sometimes. The answer depends on the amount, sending country, Revolut plan and live rates. Compare the final INR delivered after every fee.
Do I need a paid Revolut plan to send to India
Not necessarily. Transfer availability, fees and allowances depend on the user's market and plan. Check the quote on the account you already have before considering an upgrade.
Which is better for someone who only sends to India
Aspora is the more focused product. Revolut can still be cheaper on a specific quote, but much of its value comes from features outside India transfers.
Should I include the Revolut subscription in the cost
Include it when you would not otherwise pay for the plan. If the plan is already worthwhile for other benefits, compare the transfer's added charge and review the subscription separately.
