Current estimates for USD → PHP at 20,000 USD · ranked by amount received · 2 Sept 2026

What the comparison shows

Every row above uses the same market rate before fees (1 USD = 62.4687 PHP). At this amount, Revolut (Metal) leaves the recipient with the most, about ₱2,612.01 more than Revolut (Premium). The order can change with the amount and the provider's final price.

The top two are close, within ₱2,612.01 of each other, and that gap is exactly why the amount matters. Rerun it for 250 USD and the order can shift, because fixed fees weigh more on small transfers and percentage fees weigh more on large ones.

Detailed USD to PHP transfer guide

We compare the real, total cost of sending money from the USA to the Philippines at today's rate, and show which providers keep the most of your money.

··Updated ·6 min read

Sending dollars to the Philippines is not one product. A bank deposit, e-wallet credit, and cash pickup can have different prices, delivery times, recipient requirements, and limits even when they carry the same provider name.

Our comparison measures published fee and exchange-rate cost against the live mid-market USD to PHP rate, currently 62.4687. It does not confirm that a provider supports your US funding method, the recipient's bank or wallet, a particular cash agent, or your transfer purpose.

The short version
  • Choose the payout first: bank account for routine spending, a supported e-wallet for mobile access, or cash pickup for a recipient who needs notes in hand.
  • Compare the PHP received, not a “zero fee” label. Exchange-rate markup can cost more than the visible fee.
  • Local clearing explains timing, but does not guarantee it. InstaPay can move domestic PHP almost instantly around the clock, while PESONet is generally a banking-day service. The overseas provider must first complete conversion and payout.
  • From 2026, US funding matters for tax. The 1% remittance tax covers cash and certain physical instruments, not account funding or qualifying US-issued cards.

Live USD to PHP comparison

At $1,000, the modelled all-in cost for Wise is about 0.54%. This combines the published fee and rate effect; it is not a route-availability or delivery promise.

The model estimates Wise's cost at roughly $5.43 on $1,000. Western Union's modelled all-in figure is about 3.98%. Those outputs are comparable cost estimates for a standardised transfer, not quotes for the same cash location, wallet, payment card, promotion, or arrival time.

Larger transfers can rank differently because fixed fees matter less and percentage charges matter more:

How Philippine payout rails change the decision

Bank account deposit

For an account credit, collect the recipient's full name exactly as held by the bank, bank name, and the account number or other identifier requested by the provider. Ask the recipient to copy the details from their bank app or statement. A correct account number with a mismatched name can still trigger review.

Once a provider has converted the money and placed it into the Philippine banking system, the domestic leg may use InstaPay or PESONet. The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas says InstaPay is available 24/7, is designed for near-immediate credit, and has a ₱50,000 per-transaction scheme limit. PESONet is generally processed on banking days and has no scheme-level transfer ceiling, although banks and providers may set their own limits. This does not mean every overseas transfer under ₱50,000 will arrive instantly.

E-wallet payout

Wallet payout can be practical when the recipient pays bills or merchants by phone. Support is partner-specific. For GCash, the official receiving guidance says the wallet should be fully verified and the registered name must match the remittance details. The recipient may also need the expected amount, reference number, sender details, and purpose of transfer. GCash publishes wallet and transaction limits by account level, so check the recipient's current remaining limit before sending.

If the recipient will immediately cash out a wallet, include the cash-out fee, agent liquidity, and travel in the comparison. A wallet credit that looks cheaper at checkout may not be cheaper after withdrawal.

Cash pickup

Cash pickup suits a recipient without a usable account or wallet. Before paying, select the actual branch, verify its hours and accepted identity documents, and enter the recipient's legal name exactly. The recipient should have the reference number and expected PHP amount. Check collection deadlines and cancellation terms, especially before weekends or public holidays.

The 2026 US remittance tax

The IRS says a 1% remittance transfer tax applies from 1 January 2026 when a covered transfer is funded with cash, a money order, a cashier's check, or a similar physical instrument. Transfers funded from an account, or with a qualifying debit or credit card issued in the United States, are outside the tax's scope.

Philippine cash pickup is a payout choice and does not itself cause the tax. What matters is how the sender pays in the United States. If checkout offers both cash and account funding, compare the total after any tax and funding fee. Our cost model does not automatically add the tax unless the published provider rule is encoded.

A practical sending sequence

  1. Ask whether the recipient wants bank credit, wallet value, or physical cash.
  2. Verify the exact name and account, wallet, or pickup details.
  3. Compare final PHP received for the same payout method.
  4. Check funding cost and whether the 1% US tax applies.
  5. Read the arrival estimate in both US and Philippine time, including weekends and compliance review.
  6. Save the receipt and reference until the recipient confirms usable funds.

For covered US consumer remittances above $15, the CFPB says providers generally must disclose the exchange rate, fees and taxes, expected recipient amount, and availability date. Many transfers can be cancelled within 30 minutes if the money has not already been collected or deposited. The CFPB also explains the process for reporting errors within 180 days.

When each payout is a better fit

Use bank deposit when the recipient has a supported account and can spend or withdraw locally. A modelled result such as 0.54% helps compare pricing, but the provider must still confirm account support and delivery.

Use an e-wallet when the recipient's verified wallet has enough remaining limit and wallet spending is useful. Check whether the provider is an official remittance partner for that wallet.

Use cash pickup when account or wallet access is impractical. Compare agent convenience alongside the delivered PHP. See the guide to exchange-rate markup before accepting a low headline fee.

Frequently asked questions

Is InstaPay a guarantee that an overseas transfer arrives instantly?

No. InstaPay describes a possible domestic PHP payment leg after the provider has accepted funds, completed checks, converted the currency, and initiated local payout. Provider processing can still take longer, and not every payout uses InstaPay.

What should I verify for a GCash remittance?

Confirm that the provider is an official supported partner, the wallet is fully verified, the recipient's registered name matches, and the wallet has enough remaining limit. Keep the reference number and expected amount. Do not assume every provider in the cost table supports GCash.

Does paying by US credit card avoid every extra cost?

Not necessarily. A qualifying US-issued card is outside the 1% remittance tax's stated scope, but the provider may charge more for card funding and the card issuer may apply its own treatment. Compare the final card-funded total with account funding.

Are the modelled rankings exact quotes?

No. They are modelled estimates based on published pricing and a common mid-market rate. Availability, payout, limits, promotions, tax, funding fee, and timing require a provider quote.
