Remitly pricing at a glance

Remitly earns money from transfer fees and the difference built into its exchange rate. The price depends on the sending country, destination, amount, funding method, receiving method and available delivery speed.

This is a USD-to-EUR currency-conversion example. Your exact price may differ by country and by how you pay and receive the money.

Background

About Remitly

Remitly was founded in 2011 and is headquartered in Seattle. It has expanded from personal transfers into higher-value, business and recipient services while keeping international money movement at its centre.

Its 2025 annual report described a footprint across more than 175 countries and more than 5,300 sending-and-receiving routes. Remitly reported 9.6 million quarterly customers in the first quarter of 2026 and said more than 90% of funded transfers were delivered in under an hour.

How Remitly pricing works

The app shows the exact rate, fee, expected recipient amount and estimated delivery time before confirmation. A faster or card-funded route can be priced differently from a bank-funded route.

New-customer offers may temporarily remove a fee or improve the rate. Compare the normal repeat-customer quote when choosing a service for ongoing transfers.

What else you get

Recipient choice

The recipient does not need the Remitly app and can use the locally available bank, wallet, card, cash or delivery option.

Delivery tracking and promise

The sender can track the transfer, and Remitly says it will refund its fee when an eligible transfer misses the promised delivery time.

Strengths and trade-offs

Reasons to choose Remitly

  • Wide country and receiving-method coverage
  • Clear fee, rate and delivery estimate before confirmation
  • Recipient usually does not need a Remitly account

Reasons to compare alternatives

  • The cost varies significantly by route and method
  • First-transfer promotions can make repeat pricing look less attractive later
  • Cash pickup depends on partner hours, cash availability and recipient identification
  • The exchange-rate difference can matter even when the visible fee is low

Support and account checks

Remitly provides in-app tracking plus chat and phone support. Its current US help page lists both support channels as available around the clock in English.

A sender normally verifies identity with a government-issued document; additional information can be required as the amount or account activity changes.

For cash pickup, the recipient needs the reference details and identification accepted by the local partner, with the name entered exactly as required.

When to look elsewhere

Choose MoneyGram when its physical agent is more convenient, Wise or Instarem for a bank-delivered transfer with a lower total cost, or OFX for a much larger bank payment with specialist support.

Large investment-related exchange?

For a large currency conversion that is part of genuine investing or trading in the account, compare Interactive Brokers first: its pricing can be difficult to beat. IBKR is a brokerage, not a stand-alone transfer service; use a transfer specialist for cash pickup or a direct payment to someone else.

What to know before you use Remitly

Receiving methods depend on the destination, so confirm the recipient's preferred method before comparing prices.

The promised arrival remains subject to payment approval, compliance review and partner-system availability. The guarantee refunds Remitly's fee, not the transfer amount or an exchange-rate difference.

A promotional first transfer should not be used as the only evidence of long-term value.
