Detailed transfer guide

Detailed GBP to PKR transfer guide

We compare the real, total cost of sending British pounds to Pakistani rupees at today's rate, and show which provider keeps the most of your money.

··Updated ·6 min read

A UK to Pakistan transfer can arrive as a PKR bank credit, wallet credit, or cash pickup. These are separate products with different recipient details and access. Choose the payout first, then compare how many usable rupees arrive.

Our live mid-market reference is about 374.88. The tables estimate published provider fees and exchange-rate markup against that rate. They do not establish that a provider accepts your UK funding method, recipient, purpose, payout, or amount.

The short version
  • For bank credit, verify the recipient's exact account title and IBAN. The recipient can ask the bank for the transfer reference and electronic Proceeds Realization Certificate after qualifying foreign funds are credited in PKR.
  • Raast can speed a local payout, but not the whole journey. In January 2026, SBP allowed exchange companies to use Raast for home-remittance payment to eligible accounts and wallets.
  • For cash pickup, confirm the exact branch, recipient identity document, name spelling, reference number, and collection deadline.
  • Use the comparison as a price shortlist. Provider eligibility, Pakistan payout partner, limits, documents, and delivery must be checked separately.

Bank account credit and proof of receipt

Ask the recipient to copy their account title, IBAN, bank, branch if requested, mobile number, and identity details from current records. Do not rely on a shortened family name or an old saved account.

State Bank of Pakistan says authorised dealers issue an electronic Proceeds Realization Certificate for foreign funds received and realised in Pakistan. The e-PRC records items such as the remitter and beneficiary, foreign-currency amount, conversion rate, PKR amount, purpose, and transaction reference. SBP says customers receiving foreign funds into a PKR account should receive an e-PRC after credit and can obtain a statement of certificates.

That document can be useful evidence of the formal inward remittance. The recipient should contact the bank if it does not arrive or the purpose is wrong. A cash pickup or wallet transaction may produce different records.

Wallet payout and Raast

Raast is Pakistan's instant payment system for participating accounts and wallets. In January 2026, SBP announced that exchange companies could use Raast to send home-remittance proceeds to beneficiaries' accounts and wallets held with banks, microfinance banks, or electronic money institutions.

This widens a possible local delivery method. It does not mean every overseas provider or exchange company uses Raast, every wallet can receive your transfer, or the international payment is instant. Verify the supported wallet, exact registered name and number, current limits, and provider's Pakistani payout partner.

SBP also provides for Asaan Remittance Accounts aimed at home-remittance recipients. A recipient considering one should ask a participating bank about current onboarding and transaction limits rather than relying on an old limit quoted online.

Cash pickup checklist

Cash can suit a recipient who lacks a usable account or wallet. Before funding:

  1. Choose the exact agent and confirm its hours.
  2. Enter the recipient's name exactly as on the accepted CNIC or other required ID.
  3. Confirm the reference number, expected PKR, collection deadline, and payout currency.
  4. Ask whether the recipient pays any agent fee or needs a copy of sender details.
  5. Keep the receipt until the cash is collected and counted.

Cash availability and identity requirements are provider and agent decisions. A modelled bank-transfer cost does not establish a cash quote.

UK provider and funding checks

Check the legal entity in the FCA register. The FCA explains that authorised payment and e-money institutions safeguard customer money, but funds held with a nonbank payment provider are generally not protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme in the way bank deposits are.

Bank transfer funding is often cheaper than card funding, while a card can confirm faster. Compare the full GBP debit. For a large send, be ready to show source of funds and the relationship or payment purpose through the provider's official secure channel.

Timing between Britain and Pakistan

A local account or Raast credit can be fast after the provider has accepted funds, completed checks, converted GBP, and instructed its Pakistani partner. UK funding clearance, compliance review, weekends, public holidays, recipient-bank screening, cash-agent hours, and incorrect details can all extend the stated time.

Save the quote, confirmation, expected delivery date, and reference. If the recipient needs funds for a deadline, leave room for review rather than relying on the shortest advertised case.

Frequently asked questions

What is an e-PRC and why should the recipient keep it?

It is an electronic Proceeds Realization Certificate issued through authorised banks for qualifying foreign funds realised in Pakistan. It records the amount, conversion, purpose, and transfer reference and can serve as proof of formal receipt.

Does Raast make a UK to Pakistan remittance instant?

Not end to end. Raast can support the local payment to an eligible account or wallet after the overseas provider and Pakistani partner complete earlier stages. Provider support and recipient eligibility still need confirmation.

Can the recipient collect cash instead of using a bank account?

Some providers offer cash pickup. Check the exact agent, accepted ID, name spelling, reference, payout currency, and deadline. Do not infer cash support from a provider's position in the cost table.

Are the modelled rankings guaranteed?

No. They are modelled from published fee and rate methods. Service availability, payout, purpose, funding, limits, documents, and delivery require a final quote. See our guide to cutting FX fees for the cost method.
